From the old Rocca del Cassero, in the summit area of Monte San Savino, the journey begins toward the discovery of the village. The village is an important center for the manufacturing of terracotta (baked clay), and is known for being the birthplace of the artist Andrea Sansovino as well as Pope Julius III.
The Castle of Gargonza, still intact nowadays, hosted Dante Alighieri together with other Florentine exiles. Furthermore, we can find Palazzo di Monte with its gardens, and the Night of Count Baldovino, which hosts events, historical re-enactments and competitions between the town quarters, or districts. Monte San Savino offers all of this and much more.
